Jeannie Tyrrell is a California-born singer-songwriter whose work draws from a deep well of personal history, theatrical training, and investigative storytelling.
“I realized that songwriting lets me say what journalism sometimes can’t,” says Tyrrell, reflecting on her debut single “Petaluma, California,” a raw and nostalgic tribute to her hometown and late father.
Born in 1987 in Sonoma County, she spent her early years on the move, living across the state, an experience that fostered a strong sense of observation and narrative.
After years in journalism, she transitioned to songwriting, embracing music as a way to tell stories journalism couldn’t.
In 2020, she published Brain Drops, a book she describes as “a news report for the world in my own voice.”
That same instinct for storytelling now shapes her debut album Heiress, crafted from concept to completion with a documentarian’s eye and a dramatist’s heart.
Her first single, “Petaluma, California,” dropped in July 2025, marking the beginning of a body of work that explores memory, grief, and the lasting imprint of home.
Her follow-up single “Time Loop” arrives September 5 and continues her exploration of memory, connection, and emotional truth.
